*Available With a C64 Repair ONLY* MOS 6526A CIA chip
**ONLY for purchase with a Commodore 64 Repair**

The MOS 6526A CIA chip for the Commodore 64 is the controller chip in charge of the keyboard and the serial interface. Usual faults caused by a faulty CIA are:
  • BASIC screen boots up normally, but no cursor
  • BASIC screen boots up normally, but the machine thinks keys are being pressed when they're not
  • BASIC screen boots up normally, but keyboard does not work
  • BASIC screen boots up normally, but disk drive does not work

  • If your C64 is suffering from one of these faults, it's usually a new CIA that you need. Many C64s have these chips socketed, but not all - if your C64 has a socketed CIA that needs replacing, simply plug the new chip in in place of the old. If not, you may need to use our Repair Service, available on this site.
