We will always (unless requested otherwise) fit a heatsink on these chips! Failure of these chips is the most common cause of death on the Commodore 16 and Plus/4, and they will only be covered by our warranty if a heatsink is fitted.

The MOS 8501 CPU is fully compatible with Commodore 16 and Plus/4 machines. It can also be used to replace the MOS 7501 CPU, as the two are identical except for the manufacturing process.

This is the usual chip responsible when a C16/+4 has died - but naturally this particular chip is fully tested and working!
These chips are particularly vulnerable to static or heat, so be sure to ground yourself regularly when fitting this chip, or wear an anti-static wrist-strap.
