MOS 8360 TED chip (New Old Stock)

MOS 8360 TED chip (New Old Stock)
We strongly recommend fitting a heatsink on these chips! Failure of these chips is a common cause of death on the Commodore 16 and Plus/4. See here for a heatsink to be fitted.

The MOS 8360 "TED" chip is fully compatible with Commodore 16 and Plus/4 machines. We have a stock of brand new-old-stock TED chips.

This is often the chip responsible when a C16/+4 has died - less likely than the notorious 8501 chip, but is still easily damaged, especially as in the C16 they had no heatsink.
These chips are particularly vulnerable to static or heat, so be sure to ground yourself regularly when fitting this chip, or wear an anti-static wrist-strap.

These are the very last revision, made in 1987, and use the far more reliable MOS fabrication plants as used in the C64C. We still recommend using a heatsink, but they should be far less susceptible to overheating than chips from 1984 when MOS chips were incredibly unreliable.

Please note our chips are tested for full functionality including keyboard and joystick handling!
