Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48K (Early Issue 2)

Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48K (Early Issue 2)
Fully tested and working
1 Year Warranty for your peace of mind

Early ZX Spectrum 48K (Serial Number 001-027865) with a second revision of the motherboard featuring rare factory modification ("resistor and diode mod") unique to Spectrums assembled at this period. It is estimated that only 10,000 units with this modification were built.
Spectrums from this particular period are collectible as they are built using parts from the first production batch. For instance, elements belonging to the top part of the case (upper shell and front panel) are identical to those used in the very first Spectrums.
The Spectrum has been sensitively refurbished and care has been taken to maintain the original appearance.

  • Discreet composite video modification to enable connection to modern TV without the need for tuning
  • Brand new keyboard membrane to keep the keys working for many years to come
  • New high quality Vishay brand capacitors (blue axial type to retain original look of the motherboard) - restores the machine to original specifications and prevents system failures
  • Heatsinked ULA - the heat is spread away from the centre of this fragile chip which will prolong the life of the Spectrum
  • New rubber feet fitted

Please note, this is an early version of the motherboard and as such it may require manual calibration via 3 dials inside the Spectrum to acquire satisfactory display quality. Even though all care has been taken to calibrate to display as best as possible, the unit may need further calibration depending on your TV.
